The Consul General of French Consulate General in Guangzhou Mr. Bruno Bisson gave a lecture in the School of Foreign Languages, SYSU, on the topic of ‘the Electoral Procedure of the French Fifth Republic’ on March 5. Teachers and students of French Department attended this lecture.
The lecture, centering on two parts—the presidential election and legislative election in France, discussed the issues including the development of presidential electoral system in France since 1848, the procedures of presidential and legislative election during the Fifth Republic period and so on. The lecture also deeply analyzed the results of presidential and legislative election in recent years. The humor Mr. Consul General employed greatly activated the atmosphere, filling the room with laughter and heated discussions. The French majors deepened their understanding of French political system through the lecture.
After the lecture, the Dean of French Department Zeng Xiaoyang presented souvenirs to Mr. Consul General on behalf of the School of Foreign Languages. Representing the university, Vice President Wei Minghai invited Mr. Consul General to a banquet, which Vice Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange Xu Yao, and Director of Cultural Affairs of French Consulate General in Guangzhou Philippe Bourdon also attended.
