Submarines, deepwater pipelaying platform for maritime acquisition of oil and gas, the polar expedition ship “Snow Dragon”… These models, which could only have been seen in major equipment exhibition or military show, collectively appeared in the 15th China Beijing International Science-Technology Industry Expo High-tech Exhibition--Marine Science and Technology Pavilion. And this was the first time for the High-tech Expo to set up Marine Science and Technology Pavilion, which aimed to fully demonstrate the latest achievements in the field of marine technology and marine economy of China and to promote the development and peaceful use of the blue territory.

Industry, Universities and Research Institutes Jointly Developed Marine Economy
In the exhibition area of Sun Yat-sen University, the reporter saw the demonstration of the key technology of a new floating breakwater facility. According to the staff, Sun Yat-sen University had developed wave energy generation devices independently. Through the test of real sea conditions on the island, the facility had functioned without any problem for more than 1500 hours. With high efficiency of energy conversion, the facility had formed a sea engineering prototype and created conditions for its further development in engineering practice. “Sun Yat-sen University has reserved more than 100 kinds of technology in terms of marine economy. But there is an urgent need to transfer them to enterprises, so that the wisdom of the experts can be recognized by the market,” Sun Yat-sen University staff said.
