The science and technology innovation work conference attended by secretaries and mayors from all prefectural-level cities across Guangdong Province was recently held in Guzhen, Zhongshan City. During the conference, Secretary Wang Yang and Governor Zhu Xiaodan, accompanied by President Xu Ningsheng, paid a site visit to SYSU (Guzhen) LED Lighting Technology Research Center to find more about the successful experience of cooperation between universities and professional towns in transformation and upgrading. Secretary Wang Yang and Governor Zhu Xiaodan approved the “One University One Town” cooperative pattern of SYSU and Guzhen, and showed their sincere hope for the research center to achieve good results, realize the strong alliance between universities and professional towns, and make full use of university resources to speed up the scientific and technological innovation and the transformation and upgrading of professional towns. The center was jointly set up by SYSU and Guzhen on the basis of all-round strategic cooperation, geared towards the transformation and upgrading of Guzhen as a professional town, and it is a scientific and technological innovation service platform which provides services to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.

Chen Jiansheng, Director of SYSU (Guzhen) LED Lighting Technology Research Center, presented a report about the construction of the center to Secretary Wang Yang and Governor Zhu Xiaodan.

Guzhen, the City of Lighting in China, is in the transformation and upgrading process from a traditional lighting industry cluster to a modern lighting industry cluster, which is restricted by problems existing in the LED lighting field, such as the lack of professional technical talents and the lack of capacity in scientific and technical innovation.
