Recently, the 2012 Conference of Teacher’s Day & Commendation for Excellent Teachers was held in Guangzhou hosted by the Education Working Committee of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, Department of Education of Guangdong Province, Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guangdong Province, and Guangdong Federation of Trade Unions. Wang Yang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, Zhu Xiaodan, Deputy Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Guangdong Province, Ou Guangyuan, Chairman of the Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress, Huang Longyun, Chairman of the CPPCC Guangdong Provincial Committee, Zhu Mingguo, Deputy Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, Li Yumei, Member of the Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Director General of the Organization Department of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, Xu Shaohua, Member of the Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Lin Musheng, Member of the Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Secretary-General of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, attended the conference and presented awards to the representatives of awardees. Li Ping, Deputy Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, and some teacher representatives attended the conference to receive the awards.

In the selection and rewarding of “Nanyue Excellent Teacher” ("Nanyue Excellent Education Worker”), 11 SYSU teachers won the title of 2012 “Nanyue Excellent Teacher”. (The list is attached below.)

It is learned that the selection of “Nanyue Excellent Teacher” (“Nanyue Excellent Education Worker”) was jointly organized by the Education Working Committee of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, Department of Education of Guangdong Province, Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guangdong Province, and Guangdong Federation of Trade Unions, in order to honor the teachers and education workers who have made great contributions to the reform and development of the cause of education, and the economic and social development of Guangdong Province. This year, totally 1,007 “Nanyue Excellent Teachers” and 110 “Nanyue Excellent Education Workers” were selected in the whole province. So far, SYSU has had altogether 47 teachers awarded the title of “Nanyue Excellent Teacher”, as well as 2 education workers awarded the title of “Nanyue Excellent Education Worker”.
