In 2012 SYSU Has Made New Achievements in Receiving Funding from NSFC

The evaluation results of the 2012 National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) programs were announced recently. By far SYSU has altogether 521 projects funded by NSFC, and the total funding amounts to over 346 million yuan, which ranks 5th nationwide and represents an increase of 100 million yuan than that of previous year. The average funding rate is 28.91%.

In 2012 SYSU has made historic breakthroughs in receiving funding from NSFC for multiple categories of programs. SYSU has got 17 projects in Key Program, which ranks 5th nationwide with a record-high funding of 48.19 million yuan. For the first time ever, SYSU has gained 4 projects in Major International (Regional) Joint Research Program of 11.3 million yuan. Moreover, SYSU has got 1 project in Special Fund for Basic Research on Scientific Instruments of 3.2 million yuan; 1 Key Project and 2 Fostering Projects in Major Research Plan of 5.3 million yuan; 4 projects in Excellent Young Scientists Fund of 4 million yuan; 3 projects in National Science Fund for Talent Training in Basic Science of 8 million yuan; 306 projects in General Program including 6 projects in Extension Funding for Young Scientists Fund Program of 219.73 million yuan; 176 projects in Young Scientists Fund of 41.655 million yuan; 3 projects in Joint Research Programs funded under Bilateral/Multilateral Agreement/MOU Framework of 3.96 million yuan; 4 projects in Joint Research Fund for Overseas Chinese Scholars and Scholars in Hong Kong and Macao as well as Special Funds of 0.72 million yuan.

In addition, the results of funding for Major Program projects, National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars projects, NSFC-Guangdong Joint Fund projects and some Major Research Plan projects will be announced soon.
