Recently, the result of 2012 Baosteel Education Award is announced and 36 SYSU teachers and students win the awards. The winners are: Baosteel Special Award for Outstanding Student (1): Gao Wei, a Geology junior at the School of Geography and Planning; Baosteel Outstanding Teacher Award (4): Ni Xing, Song Haiqing, Wu Zhongdao and Peng Shaolin; Baosteel Outstanding Student Award (9): Guo Jianhui, Lun Huilian, Xiao Han, Mei He, Mao Ren, Wang Xiaoyue, Ding Liangxin, Yang Jiaohui and Liu Xubing; Baosteel Outstanding Student Award (Taiwan) (3): Wang Guanbo, Chen Shangci and Wu Yalin; Baosteel Outstanding Student Award (Hong Kong and Macao) (19): Ren Chengkun, Guo Yunying, Huo Weixiong, Han Xiaonan, Chen Jingyi, Zhu Yongquan, Huang Hongwei, Li Yifeng, Huang Lina, Chen Lingling, Peng Zexiong, Fang Jiashou, Lin Zhihao, Xu Luqing, Bi Zhaoqi, Guo Jingming, Huang Zhongyu, Zhang Xinrong and Wu Jiafeng.

Set up in 1990, the Baosteel Scholarship was expanded to Baosteel Education Fund and added scholarship for teachers in 1994. The Baosteel Education Fund added scholarship for outstanding students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in 2010. Altogether 1,214 teachers and students from 113 universities nationwide win the 2012 Baosteel Education Award. By far, a total of 18,817 teachers and students nationwide have received the Baosteel Education Award.
