The First SYSU Achievement Report Exhibition of Field Practice Projects Held Successfully

On December 7th, sponsored by University Dean’s Office, undertaken by School of Sociology and Anthropology, the “2012 SYSU Achievement Report Exhibition of Field Practice Projects” was held successfully in Swasey Hall. Professor Deng Shaozhi, Director of the University Dean's Office; Professor Cai He, Dean of School of Sociology and Anthropology; Yin Xiaochuan, Deputy Director of the University Dean's Office; and deputy dean (deputy chair), teacher representatives, student representatives, and academic staff of each field practice exhibition unit attended the meeting.

At the exhibition, Director Deng Shaozhi pointed out that Sun Yat-sen University is a comprehensive university and the nature of the practice in each discipline and each specialty is different. It is the first time that SYSU has held the achievement report exhibition of field practice, hoping to take this opportunity to provide a platform for teachers and students from different schools to exhibit and communicate.

14 teams from School of Sociology and Anthropology, School of Engineering, Department of Philosophy, School of Marine Sciences, School of Communication and Design, Department of Earth Science, School of Life Sciences, School of Tourism Management, Department of History, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, School of Information Management, School of Management, School of Geography and Planning presented report exhibition of their distinctive field practice projects in 2012.

Professor Ma Guoqing, Deputy Dean of School of Sociology and Anthropology, made comments on the exhibition. He pointed out that emphasizing field practice is a tradition in SYSU. The activity has shown that on one hand, SYSU empathizes and pays attention to undergraduate education particularly field practice teaching, on the other hand, SYSU is a university full of energy, human sympathy and cooperation.

The schools and departments awarded the “Outstanding Organizational Unit” were announced at the exhibition. They are: School of Sociology and Anthropology, School of Geography and Planning, Department of Earth Science, School of Life Sciences, and School of Marine Sciences.

School of Sociology and Anthropology, School of Geography and Planning, Department of Earth Science,
School of Life Sciences, and School of Marine Sciences are awarded “Outstanding Organizational Unit”.
 
The field practice projects reflect SYSU’s philosophy of “comprehensive, research-based, open” and “dedication to teaching, students and learning”. The exhibition has shown excellent results of field practice and promoted exchanges between schools on internship and practice teaching experience.
