On December 16th, the opening ceremony of the 7th Confucius Institute Conference was held at China National Convention Center in Beijing. To cooperate with the convening of the conference, the Office of Chinese Language Council International (known as Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters) instructed the School of Chinese as a Second Language, Sun Yat-sen University to organize a video classroom for live connection with the Confucius Institute Conference in Beijing, presenting globally connected teaching of “Mandarin Express”.
The School actively organized and seriously implemented the connection. On the evening of 16th, when the Confucius Institute Conference convened, 15 international students from 9 countries studying at the School gathered in Room 315 of The Third Teaching Building on South Campus, to participate in the class “My Favorite Fruit” taught by Li Yun, together with students from the National Base for the International Promotion of Chinese Language at Wuhan University, Beijing Foreign Studies University and the Confucius Institute at the University of Sheffield.
The global video teaching concluded in success. Among the four classrooms participated in the live connection, the one organized by the School of Chinese as a Second Language at SYSU made the best performance in terms of the number of participants and organization.
