In recent years, the Journal of Sun Yat-sen University has improved its quality through studying and practicing the scientific outlook on development, reinforcing management and building learning-oriented editorial board. After winning awards in the Second Outstanding S&T Journals of China last year, ACTA SCIENTIARUM NATURALIUM UNIVERSITATIS SUNYATSENI and JOURNAL OF SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY (MEDICAL SCIENCES) are once again selected by the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education as Outstanding College Science and Technology Journals in China.

According to the statistics issued by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC), in 2011, ACTA SCIENTIARUM NATURALIUM UNIVERSITATIS SUNYATSENI had been cited for 1,999 times in total, with an impact factor of 0.963, and ranked 98th among 2,000 core science and technology journals in China, showing a great progress compared with its previous rankings in 2010 and 2009. This year, for the fourth time in succession it wins the honor of Outstanding College Science and Technology Journals in China.

In 2011, JOURNAL OF SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY (MEDICAL SCIENCES) ranked No. 253 among all core science and technology journals in the nation, with overall citations of 1,377 and an impact factor of 1.009, showing a steady progress compared with the previous two years. For the first time it became one of the Outstanding College Science and Technology Journals in China.
