SYSU 2012 Teaching Contest for Young Teachers (Final) was held in the Swasey Hall on South Campus on December 21. The fierce competition between the 23 finalists resulted in five first prize, nine second prize, nine excellence prize, and five outstanding organization prize winners (The list of winners is attached below). The contest was presided over by Professor Deng Shaozhi, Director of the University Dean’s Office. Professor Cheng Huanwen served as the head of the judging panel and presented awards to the winners. Relevant staff of University Dean’s office, Dean’s office of Medical Education Affairs, and Equipment & Lab Management Office participated in the contest.

The contest was divided into three phases: preliminary, semi-final and final. After the preliminary contest within schools (departments), 60 contestants entered the semi-final, who competed in four groups including group of humanities, science and engineering, medical sciences group, all-English group, and group of laboratory courses. 23 contestants made their way to the final. The competition consisted of lesson plan and teaching demonstration.
Professor Cheng Huanwen summarized the contest, praising the standard of teaching of SYSU young teachers and making brilliant and witty comments. Finally, Professor Cheng announced the winners.
The contest was hosted by University Dean’s office, Dean’s office of Medical Education Affairs, and Equipment & Lab Management Office.
