The Teachers and Students of Sun Yat-sen University Won Awards in the 9th “Huawei Cup” National Graduate Mathematical Modeling Contest

Recently, the Award Ceremony of the 9th “Huawei Cup” National Graduate Mathematical Modeling Contest was held in Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Our University had organized 22 teams to participate in this contest, achieving excellent results, including one first prize, two second prizes and five third prizes. Guided by Professor Zhu Siming and Wang Qiru from School of Mathematics and Computational Science, the team consisting of three 2012 master’s program students from the School of Engineering Ma Xialin, Luo Peng and Chen Zhibin, won first prize. Professor Zhu Siming won the “Lifetime Achievement Award of National Graduate Mathematical Modeling Contest”. Meanwhile, Sun Yat-sen University also won the Outstanding Organization Award of the 9th “Huawei Cup” National Graduate Mathematical Modeling Contest.
The National Graduate Mathematical Modeling Contest is held nationwide for postgraduate students. Since its start in 2004 with the goal of facilitating the cultivation of innovative ability and improving the cultivating quality of graduates, it has gradually become an efficient platform for graduate students to explore practical problems, conduct academic exchange, improve innovative ability and to develop teamwork spirit, and has been held successfully nine times.
