On March 21st, the Guangdong, Hong Kong & Macao Innovative R&D International Cooperation Platform of Traditional Chinese Medicine, led by Professor Su Weiwei from School of Life Sciences, Sun Yat-sen University, passed the inspection organized by Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology.
After three years of construction, the platform has established a long-term cooperation mechanism and effective and steady collaborative relationship between Sun Yat-sen University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong, The University of Macao in the field of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), accumulated experience in joint TCM research, achieved fruitful results in a number of joint projects, thus playing an exemplary role in TCM research and technological cooperation in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
During the construction period, the platform has cultivated 5 postdoctoral fellows, 9 doctoral candidates, 3 master’s degree students and have organized scholar exchange visits for 10 times; it has published 24 academic papers in SCI journals and 1 monograph; it has acquired 13 licensed patents and has applied for 11 new patents; it has submitted application for 2 first category new drugs to China Food and Drug Administration; it has won Guangdong Science and Technology Award for three consecutive years; Professor Su Weiwei, who is in charge of the platform, also won the 2011 China Industry-University-Research Cooperation and Innovation Award
