Professor Xu Anlong, Professor Song Erwei and Professor Su Chengyong selected into the first national innovative talents promotion plan

Recently, according to the Notice on the Announcement of the 2012 Innovative Talents Promotion Plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), three SYSU professors are selected into the first national innovative talents promotion plan. The team led by Professor Xu Anlong from School of Life Sciences is included into “Innovative Teams in Key Fields”. Professor Song Eewei from The Second Affiliated Hospital and Professor Su Chengyong from School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering are listed as “Leading Young and Middle-aged Science and Technology Innovative Talents”.

According to the list, there are 201 leading young and middle-aged science and technology innovative talents and 86 innovative teams in key fields across the country. Through elaborate organization by the University, and the selection and recommendation by the Ministry of Education and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the three professors are all included into the list. The innovative talents promotion plan is a major talent program launched in 2012 by MOST in order to implement the spirit of the 18th CPC National Congress and National Medium and Long-term Talent Development Plan (2010-2020). It strives to cultivate and foster a number of world-class scientists, leading high-level science and technology talents and engineers, outstanding innovative teams and entrepreneurial talents to lead the development of all types of science and technology talents. This achievement demonstrates the overall strength and competitiveness of the University in the reserve and quality of leading high-level talents.
