SYSU won two projects of 2013 National S&T Basic Work Program

Recently, the project approval work of 2013 National S&T Basic Work Program has concluded. Nationwide 48 projects have passed approval, two of which are from Sun Yat-sen University, one is "The Comprehensive Scientific Survey of Biodiversity from Luoxiao Range Region in China" presided over by Professor Liao Wenbo from School of Life Sciences, and the other is "A national survey on the basic data of Danxia landform" presided over by Professor Peng Hua from School of Geography and Planning, each funded with over 12 million yuan.

It is the first time for SYSU researchers to be in charge of this kind of major S&T planning program, which reflects the country’s affirmation and support for our long-term research work in biodiversity and Danxia landform, and will play a positive role in promoting the development of the University’s basic work of science and technology.

The National S&T Basic Work Program is specially set up to support the basic work of science and technology, with focus on scientific survey and investigation, S & T data compilation, scientific books, annals and atlases compilation and research, development of standard substances and scientific norms, and other basic work which plays an important supporting role in economic and social development as well as scientific and technological progress.
