The Philosophy Development Planning Meeting was held in SYSU on the morning of May 30. President Xu Ningsheng, Deputy Secretary Li Ping, Vice President Wei Minghai, and professors at the Department of Philosophy, a total of about 40 people attended the meeting.
Professor Ju Shier, Head of the Department of Philosophy, made a report in which he analyzed the result of the third round of discipline appraisal by the Ministry of Education, introduced the present situation and existing problems, defined the research directions and pointed out the measures to be taken to ensure the development of Philosophy in the next five years.

President Xu Ningsheng affirmed the discipline construction work of the Department of Philosophy, and hoped that the Department would highlight the characteristics of the discipline and define the objectives of future development. Vice President Wei Minghai, Director of the Office of Development Planning and Discipline Construction Yang Qinghua, and Deputy Director of the Office of Social Sciences and Humanities Yuan Xuyang, gave comments to the report respectively and offered constructive opinions.
