Professor Cheng Huanwen's Information Resource Sharing course is selected into the first batch of Chinese University MOOCs

Recently, the “Information Resource Sharing” course taught by Professor Cheng Huanwen from the School of Information Management was selected into the first batch of Chinese University MOOCs, which is the only course from Sun Yat-sen University selected by the Ministry of Education in the 120 Chinese University MOOCs contributing to the icourse website (http://www.icourses.cn/home/). Furthermore, it is the only course that is chosen in the subject of Library, Information and Archive Management in China.

The “Information Resource Sharing” course was established in 1998 and selected as the National Excellent Course in 2007, which is one of the core courses for the undergraduate students majoring in Library, Information and Archive Management. After 10 years of careful design, sustainable construction and reform, with the teaching philosophy of learning happily, learning from practices, learning from cooperation and learning extensively, this course is aimed to combine theories with practices, integrate related knowledge at home and abroad, construct and use multi-dimensional teaching materials, and apply many teaching methods such as interactive teaching and self-study online courses. With high teaching quality and good teaching effect, this course is well thought of by students, peers and social learners, thus having great impact and exemplary effect among similar courses in China.

Chinese University MOOCs use modern information technology to construct an online-learning platform which is convenient for learners to study and communicate online, providing core course resources including teaching contents, methods and processes for university students and teachers as well as learners in the society.
