In July 2013, Professor Guo Songshan of Sun Yat-sen University won the Outstanding Coach Award of ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest China Sites. The award was assessed and issued at the 2013 China ACM-ICPC Summer Forum. The forum was organized by ACM-ICPC Council China and held in Changchun in late July.
At the meantime, Sun Yat-sen University won the Excellent Questions Award of the 37th ACM-ICPC China Sites for the high quality questions SYSU contributed to the 37th ACM-ICPC Asia Regional Tianjian Site in 2012.
Professor Guo Songshan
Professor Guo has been the head coach of ACM/ICPC at SYSU since 1997, and the executive chairman of ACM/ICPC Guangdong Province since 2005. Thanks to his guidance for more than ten years, the school teams of SYSU have participated in the World Finals for 14 times, among 1999-2001 and 2003-2013, with outstanding outcomes.
Professor Guo won the Coach Award in the 32nd ACM/ICPC World Finals in 2008. He was one of the five coaches awarded globally, and the only winner of this award in Asia.
