SYSU receiving funding from NSFC in 2013

The evaluation results of the 2013 National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) programs were announced recently. By far SYSU has in total 517 projects funded by NSFC, and the total funding amounted to over 328 million yuan, ranking 6th nationwide.

Due to NSFC’s policy changes, both the number of funded projects and the total funding received by SYSU slightly fell compared to last year. The overall funding from NSFC received by SYSU in 2013 is: 325 projects in General Funding (including 7 projects in Extension Funding for Young Scientists Fund Program) with funding of 230.009 million yuan; 157 projects in Young Scientists Fund with funding of 36.67 million yuan; 12 projects in Key Program (ranking 7th nationwide) with funding of 34.74 million yuan; 8 projects in Excellent Young Scientists Fund (ranking 8th nationwide) with funding of 8 million yuan; 4 projects in Major International Cooperation with funding of 11.6 million yuan; 2 projects in National Science Fund for Talent Training in Basic Science with funding of 6 million yuan; 3 projects in Joint Research Fund for Overseas Chinese Scholars and Scholars in Hong Kong and Macau with funding of 600,000 yuan; etc.

In addition, the results of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars projects, NSFC-Guangdong Joint Fund projects and some Major Research Plan projects will be announced soon.
