Unveiling Ceremony of the SYSU and ZTEICT Joint Laboratory for Cloud Computing Technology and Application

On the afternoon of November 7, Sun Yat-sen University and ZTEICT Technologies Co., Ltd. held the plaque unveiling ceremony of the "Joint Laboratory for Cloud Computing Technology and Application". Mr. Jia Xingdong, Deputy Director of Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality; Mr. Shi Ligong, Vice President of ZTE Corporation and General Manager of ZTEICT; Mr. Dou Shuihua, Deputy General Manager of ZTEICT; Prof. Xiang Lianghui, Assistant President of SYSU; Prof. Zhang Jun, Executive Dean of School of Advanced Computing; and teacher representatives attended the event.

Through university-enterprise cooperation, the joint laboratory is expected to combine the university’s research strength with the company’s market experience to set a win-win example of cooperation between the world-class enterprise and the internationally renowned university, and create research achievements and economic benefits in the promising field of cloud computing and its applications.

The joint laboratory is built by School of Advanced Computing of SYSU, Institute of Advanced Computing of SYSU, and ZTEICT, aiming to meet the development needs of cloud computing industry in China and Guangdong province. It will undertake research on key technologies in cloud computing, and also carry out collaborations in talent cultivation and construction of practice base for university students.

After the meeting, the attendants visited the pilot system of Guangzhou Supercomputing Center (GSC), the GSC Building and the Machine Intelligence and Advanced Computing Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education. They also experienced research results of the "Intelligent Cloud Computing Service Management and Platform Core Software System" of the 863 major project of China Cloud Phase II undertaken by SYSU.
