Delegation from JHU School of Medicine visited The Third Affiliated Hospital of SYSU

After signing the collaboration agreement with Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) in the field of clinical and translational research, the delegation from JHU School of Medicine, including Daniel E. Ford, Vice Dean, Zhiping Li, Director of Hepatology, Sanford Wu, Managing Director of Global Venture, JHI, Chengda Zhang, Senior Associate, JHI and Dr. Allen Tien, visited Luogang campus of The Third Affiliated Hospital, SYSU on March 5, accompanied by Zhang Qi, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange and Zhu Changping, Deputy Director of Office of Medical Science of SYSU.

The Office of Discipline Construction & International Cooperation of The Third Affiliated Hospital gave the guests a brief introduction of the general information and achievements made by The Third Affiliated Hospital in recent years. Professor Zou Xiaobing, Director of Department of Pediatrics, presented the unique characteristics and on-going autism-related clinical trials in the Child Behavior Development Center (CBDC) to the delegation. Dr. Yi Huimin, Associate Professor & Director of Division of Hepatic Surgery ICU, introduced the operating situation of SICU and Organ Transplantation Center (OTC). The guests also paid a visit to CBDC, OTC and Cancer Biotherapy Center (CBC). Vice Dean Daniel Ford expressed keen interest in biotherapy and autism treatment which were carried out in CBDC and CBC respectively, and suggested that both parties could have further cooperation in these two areas.

Johns Hopkins University (JHU) is one of the greatest universities in the US, and is world-renowned for its medicine. As the “Holy Land” of American modern medicine, JHU School of Medicine always ranks in the top among America’s medical research schools. Its major teaching hospital, Johns Hopkins Hospital, has been ranked the best hospital in the United States every year from 1991 to 2011 by U.S. News and World Report. The visit is expected to enhance mutual understanding, promote friendship and establish a long-term strategic partnership between SYSU, its affiliated hospitals and Johns Hopkins in the field of clinical and translational research.
