On the afternoon of September 17, the signing ceremony of Tianhe Hospital Affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University was held in the north hall of Tianhe District Government. Mr. Lin Daoping, Mayor of Tianhe District; Prof. Wang Jianping, Executive Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University; and Prof. Lan Ping, President of The Sixth Affiliated Hospital, signed the agreement of jointly establishing Tianhe Hospital Affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University. Shi Qizhu, Secretary of the CPC Tianhe District Committee; Lan Xiaohuan, Executive Vice Mayor of Tianhe District; Rao Jieyi, Vice Mayor of Tianhe District; Zou Yanting, Director of Health Bureau of Tianhe District; Yan Guangmei Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University; Li Mengfeng, Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University; and leaders of The Sixth Affiliated Hospital attended and witnessed the ceremony.

It is learned that in order to reduce the residents’ difficulty of seeing doctors, Tianhe District has decided to cooperate with The Sixth Affiliated Hospital (Gastrointestinal & Anal Hospital) of Sun Yat-sen University to build a non-profit grade-three class-A general hospital for prevention, physical examination, health care, medical treatment, rehabilitation, teaching and research in the northeast part of Tianhe District, namely, “Tianhe Hospital Affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University”. This hospital will take up an area of 83,900 m2 with 750 beds for the first phase and 2,000 beds for the second phase. According to national construction standards, it will be built into a general hospital with gynecology, obstetrics, reproduction, physical examination, sleep and breathing as its characteristic specialties.
