Professor Jing Jin from the School of Public Health at Sun Yat-sen University received
Scientific Chinese “The People of the Year Awards 2014” and attended the award ceremony held in Beijing recently.

The recipients of the award this year included 12 academicians and renowned scientists such as Huang Jiangchuan, chief designer of “Chang’e-2”, Deng Huafeng, expert of rice breeding, Liao Xiangke, chief designer of “Tianhe-2”, and Huang Laiqiang, professor from Tsinghua University. 18 scholars in the field of medicine including Professor Jing Jin received the award.
The selection committee praised Professor Jing Jin as the most renowned and the most representative expert on children’s psychological health in our country. Professor Jing Jin has been engaged in the teaching, research and clinical treatment in the field of Child and Adolescent health and children’s psychological health, especially in the neuropsychological mechanisms of learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). He has been in charge of 7 NSFC projects and dozens of provincial and ministerial projects. He has published over 350 papers and over 30 books, and supervised more than 60 doctoral and master’s degree students. He also assisted The Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University to set up the first child developmental behavior center in China. In 2010, Professor Jing Jin won the 5th Soong Ching Ling Pediatric Medicine Award for his outstanding research in exploring the neuropsychological characteristics and brain mechanism of children with reading disabilities.
