Students from School of Tourism Management Won the Champion in PATA China Young Tourism Professionals Challenge

On November 16, the PATA China Young Tourism Professionals Challenge was held in Shanghai. The team, which was composed of three students from the School of Tourism Management (STM) Ni Sisi, Duan Caiyi and Li Lingjia, won the champion and the most popular team.

This contest was hosted by Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), one of the world’s three biggest travel associations. Totally 46 teams of undergraduates and postgraduates from more than 10 colleges and universities participated in the contest. In the preliminary, with the business plan of carbon footprint calculator for travel, the three-member team of STM became one of the top three teams and obtained the qualification to go to Shanghai to compete in the final. At the final contest held on Nov. 16, after a 7 minutes presentation, Q&A in both Chinese and English and voting by the audience, The STM team won the champion and the most popular team.

"Low-Carbon Consumption and Responsible Tourism: Business Plan of Tourism Carbon Footprint Calculator” deals with the subject of transformation of travel patterns and aims to advocate an environmental-friendly way by recording the carbon footprints of tourists. The work was highly praised by the judges and the audience for innovative concept, outstanding presentation and fluent response in Q&A.

Teams from Beijing International Studies University and Nankai University won the second and third place respectively.
