Zhuhai Daily News Yesterday afternoon, the People’s Court of Xiangzhou District invited a teacher from the Department of Psychology, Sun Yat-sen University to Zhuhai No.1 and No. 2 Detention Center to give a lecture on psychological counseling to about 200 under-age defendants in custody.
Dr. Wang Yuyin’s lecture was entitled “How to Manage Your Emotions”. Through the lecture, she hoped to help the juveniles in custody to walk out of the past and to think about their future in new ways.
It is learned that this psychological counseling lecture is an extension of the cooperative project between the People’s Court of Xiangzhou District and the Department of Psychology at Sun Yat-sen University to offer “psychological assessment and intervention services to under-age defendants”. Zhu Minglin, a judge of the collegiate bench for juvenile delinquency cases at the People’s Court of Xiangzhou District, said that, providing psychological counseling to under-age defendants could facilitate pre-trial education and post-trial rehabilitation and help them walk out of the darkness and return to the society as early as possible.
