SYSU Faculty and Students Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of The People’s Republic of China

On the morning of October 1, 2019, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) held a national flag-raising ceremony at the central lawn of the Guangzhou South Campus. Faculty and students sang the national anthem to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Secretary Chen Chunsheng, President Luo Jun as well as faculty and student representatives attended the flag-raising ceremony. The event was presided over by Deputy Secretary Yu Minbin.


At 8:00 am, the national flag-raising ceremony started. The students of the national flag guard class escorted the bright five-star red flag to the flag-raising platform. All faculty and student representatives sang the national anthem and watched the national flag rising.


 

 
The faculty and student representatives also sang a song of praise to the motherland, waving five-star red flags and expressing best wishes to the motherland.



Afterwards, the faculty and student representatives went to the Swasey Hall to watch the live broadcast of the grand gathering to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the military parade and the mass pageantry. The students said that they would cherish the youth and strive forward to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

SYSU faculty and students will stay true to our founding mission, express our love to the motherland with full enthusiasm and high morale, and celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China with our actions.
