The seminar on excising full and strict governance over the Party in the affiliated hospitals of universities held at SYSU

On September 1-2, 2019, the seminar on exercising full and strict governance over the Party in the affiliated hospitals of universities, jointly hosted by the Branch for Building Good Conduct (BBGC) under the China Association of Higher Education (CAHE) and Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), and undertaken by The First Affiliated Hospital of SYSU and the SYSU Cancer Center, was held on Guangzhou South Campus. Mr. Li Shengli, President of BBGC; Ms. Han Jingyang, Vice-President and Secretary-General of BBGC; Mr. Wang Xuetao, Director of the Office of CAHE; Prof. Chen Chunsheng, Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, as well as nearly 200 disciplinary inspection and supervision officials from relevant universities and their affiliated hospitals attended the seminar.

President Li Shengli presided over the seminar. He pointed out that the theme of the seminar is to study and implement the "Opinions on Strengthening the Party Building Work in Public Hospitals” issued by the General Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and exercise full and strict governance over the Party in the affiliated hospitals of universities. The aim of the seminar is to provide a study and exchange platform for member units to explore how university’s Party committee and disciplinary inspection commission can help the disciplinary inspection commissions in the affiliated hospitals to perform their duties.

At the seminar, Secretary Chen Chunsheng delivered a keynote report titled “SYSU promotes its affiliated hospitals to exercise full and strict governance over the Party”. He expounded the significance of the work from the four aspects of regarding the cause of the Party and the country, regarding the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education and the “double first-class” construction at universities, regarding fending off and defusing major risks and safeguarding stability, and regarding the hospitals’ development goals. He summarized the experiences and practices of the SYSU Party Committee in leading, guiding and supervising SYSU’s affiliated hospitals to exercise full and strict governance over the Party, analyzed current problems in the work, and put forward suggestions on strengthening and improving the work.

The seminar also arranged policy explanations, expert lectures, paper discussions and round-table discussions, promoting universities and their affiliated hospitals to explore approaches to high-quality development of the disciplinary inspection and supervision work.
