On the morning of November 11, 2018, the ceremony to appoint Xu Guanhua, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Chen Dake, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as Visiting Professors of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) was held in the conference room of the SYSU Hotel & Conference Center. President Luo Jun presented the letter of appointment to Academician Xu Guanhua and Academician Chen Dake, respectively. Academician Zhang Peizhen and Academician Wang Fuming attended the appointment ceremony, which was presided over by Sun Dongbai, the Executive Vice President of SYSU.

On behalf of the university, the Executive Vice President extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to Academician Xu Guanhua and Academician Chen Dake. He pointed out that high level talent teams are indispensable to the development of SYSU’s marine sciences disciplinary clusters. The two academicians will inject a strong impetus into SYSU’s development and facilitate the realization of its goal of becoming a world-class university.

Representatives from the Publicity Department, Office of the President, Office of Scientific Research, Office of Major Platform Construction, South China Sea Institution, as well as deans and faculty representatives from the marine related schools attended the appointment ceremony.
