On the afternoon of November 7, 2018, Prof. Peter Mulwa Felix Mbithi, Vice Chancellor of University of Nairobi, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Members of the delegation also included Mr. Brian O. Ouma, Deputy Director in the Directorate of University Advancement, and Dr. Marianne Wanjiru Mureithi from Department of Medical Microbiology, College of Health Sciences. Prof. Yu Minbin, Deputy Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, met with the guests in Lingnan Hall on Guangzhou South Campus. Representatives from SYSU’s Office of International Cooperation & Exchange attended the meeting.

Deputy Secretary Yu Minbin extended a warm welcome to the guests, and introduced SYSU’s campus construction, advantageous disciplines and international cooperation. He pointed out that it is of great significance to strengthen exchanges and collaborations between the two universities in the context of the “Belt and Road” Initiative. He hoped that the two universities would explore cooperation and exchange in medical sciences and other fields.

Vice Chancellor Peter Mulwa Felix Mbithi presented a general introduction to the University of Nairobi. He expressed the hope to deepen bilateral understanding through this visit and promote the cooperation between the two universities in education and research.

During the visit, the delegates also visited SYSU’s First Affiliated Hospital and Cancer Center.

Established in 1956, the University of Nairobi is a top university in Kenya. It consists of College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, College of Biological and Physical Sciences, College of Architecture and Engineering, College of Education and External Studies, College of Heath Sciences, and College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
