A delegation from Tanta University visited SYSU

On the morning of November 2, 2018, Professor Elrefai Mubarek, Vice President of education and student affairs of Tanta University, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Members of the Tanta University delegation also included Professor Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of faculty of medicine and the director of all Tanta university hospitals, and Professor Adel Abouzeid, the ex. Dean of faculty of agriculture and the manager of international relations. Professor Chen Chunsheng, Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, met with the guests in Blackstone House on Guangzhou South Campus. Representatives from SYSU’s School of International Studies and Office of International Cooperation & Exchange attended the meeting.

Secretary Chen Chunsheng extended a warm welcome to the guests, and introduced SYSU’s history, advantageous disciplines, and collaborations with Egyptian universities. He expressed the hope to deepen and expand cooperation and exchange between the two sides in the fields including history, geography, climate, and Chinese language teaching.

Vice President Elrefai Mubarek said that the two sides have good basis for cooperation, and he hoped to promote cooperation and exchange between the two universities in more areas through the visit.

Tanta University is an Egyptian University located in Tanta City in Gharbia Governorate. It was separated as a University in 1972 after being branch of Alexandria University since its establishment. SYSU’s School of International Studies conducted student exchange and faculty research cooperation with Tanta University since 2012. In February 2018, Secretary Chen Chunsheng visited Tanta University during his visit to Egypt. He met with President of Tanta University and discussed cooperation between the two universities.
