A delegation from Vietnam National University, Hanoi visits SYSU

On September 27, 2017, a 13-member delegation led by Nguyen Kim Son, President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Members of the delegation also included Vu Minh Giang, Chairman of Scientific and Academic Council of VNU, and Tran Quoc Binh, Deputy Chief of VNU President Office. SYSU Vice President Xiao Haipeng met with the guests in Zhongshan Building on Guangzhou South Campus, accompanied by representatives from SYSU’s School of International Relations, and Office of International Cooperation and Exchange.

Vice President Xiao Haipeng extended a warm welcome to the delegation, and introduced SYSU’s history, campus construction, and disciplinary strengths. He pointed out that the two universities established friendly cooperative relations in the 1990s, and he hoped that the two sides would conduct cooperation in more areas at deeper levels in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative.
President Nguyen Kim Son thanked SYSU for the warm reception, and presented an introduction of VNU. He said that the two universities have maintained close cooperative relations since the signing of an agreement, and he hoped that the two universities would strengthen cooperation in student exchange, scholar visit and research.
Established in 1906, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) is the largest center for higher education and research in Vietnam. In 1996, SYSU signed a university-level agreement with VNU to officially establish cooperative relations between the two universities.
