SYSU Signs MOU on Undergraduate Scholarship Program with Consulate General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Guangzhou

On the morning of March 22, 2017, the Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding on the Undergraduate Scholarship Program between Sun Yat-sen University and the Consulate General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Guangzhou was held on Guangzhou South Campus.
The MOU was jointly signed by Prof. Li Mengfeng, Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University, and Mr. Bounpan Kongnhinsayaseng, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Guangzhou.

In order to promote educational cooperation and exchange with southeast Asian countries, Sun Yat-sen University has set up the “2017 Undergraduate Scholarship Program for International Students from Southeast Asian Countries” to recruit 200 outstanding international students in the region. The Scholarship Program plans to recruit 20 undergraduate students from Laos.
The signing of the MOU indicated that SYSU and the Consulate General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Guangzhou have reached consensus on the Scholarship Program as well as the selection and recommendation of top students. The two parties will cooperate to attract undergraduate students from Laos to study at SYSU and become talents who are familiar with the two languages and equipped with specific knowledge to serve the economic development and cultural exchange between the two countries.
