The outstanding graduates selection system was established at SYSU in 1990 with the aim to encourage all SYSU students to strive forward and pursue excellence. The University’s goal of talent cultivation is to nurture students who have both ability and moral integrity, able to cultivate charisma and eager serve their country. Starting from this year, the University will present each outstanding graduate with a graduation stole.

The graduation stole is designed with elements of the University: the university badge and “Sun Yat-sen University” are embroidered on one side, and the bauhinia and “outstanding graduate” are embroidered on the other side.
