Mr. Joseph Kahama, Secretary General of Tanzania-China Friendship Promotion Association, visits SYSU

On March 31, 2016, Mr. Joseph Kahama, Secretary General of Tanzania-China Friendship Promotion Association, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Prof. Li Ping, Deputy Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, met with the guest accompanied by Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, and Prof. Liu Yaping from the School of Government of SYSU. 

Prof. Li Ping extended a warm welcome to Mr. Joseph Kahama, and briefly introduced SYSU. She said that in order to serve the national strategy of the Belt and Road Initiative, SYSU would use its academic strengths, and use the Tanzania-China Friendship Promotion Association as a platform to enhance cooperation with Tanzania in talent training.

Prof. Liu Yaping from the School of Government introduced the IMPA program and the training program for civil servants in Guangdong Province. Mr. Yang Dongcheng from the Department of Education Administration introduced some degree courses and short-term training courses for international students.

Mr. Joseph Kahama said that China has deep friendship with Tanzania and other African nations. He hoped that Chinese universities could set up branches in Africa, and more and more scholars would conduct African Studies, thus promoting China-African cooperation and friendship.

At the meeting, the two sides also discussed training courses and research collaborations.
