President Luo Jun visits Guangming New District of Shenzhen

On February 17, 2016, Prof. Luo Jun, President of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), visited Guangming New District of Shenzhen to hold a discussion with the district leaders on issues regarding the planning and construction of SYSU Shenzhen Campus, the Seventh Affiliated Hospital, research platforms and supporting facilities. SYSU participants of the meeting included Vice President Ma Jun, as well as Assistant Presidents Cheng Huanwen and Yang Qinghua.

Zhang Hengchun, Secretary of Party Working Committee of Guangming New District, Kuang Bing, Deputy Secretary of Party Working Committee and Director of Administration Commission of Guangming New District, and Xu Songming, Member of Party Working Committee and Vice Director of Administration Commission, also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the leaders listened to the reports made by relevant functional departments in Guangming New District on the construction progress of the project, and held discussions about the overall planning and construction.

Secretary Zhang Hengchun stressed that Guangming New District attaches great importance to the project of SYSU Shenzhen Campus. The District will enhance efforts and steadily advance the construction of the project at a faster speed in order to coordinate with SYSU’s overall planning work.

President Luo Jun expressed sincere thanks to Shenzhen City and Guangming New District for their support. He emphasized that the University and the City should take the historic opportunity of developing SYSU Shenzhen Campus, make concerted efforts and do our best in planning and innovation, and connect the development of the region with the development of the University, thus enabling Guangming New District to become headquarters of the industry-university-research, high-end regional development and innovation.
