On the afternoon of January 19, 2016, a 6-member delegation from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, including Prof. Astrid Kaptijn, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Pascal Pichonnaz, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Prof. Eric Davoine, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU).
Prof. Wei Minghai, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building on South Campus. Prof. Huang Yao, Dean of the School of Law, Prof. Zhang Laing, Vice Dean of the School of Law, Prof. Wu Peiguan, Vice Dean of the International School of Business and Finance, and Ms. Gu Wenli, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, were also present at the meeting.

Prof. Wei Minghai introduced the internationalization development of SYSU. Prof. Astrid Kaptijn introduced the University of Fribourg and its international cooperation programs. The two parties exchanged views on future cooperation.
After the meeting, the delegates held group discussions with representatives from the School of Law and the International School of Business and Finance respectively on potential collaborations.
Founded in 1889, the University of Fribourg has about 10,000 students and 800 faculty members. As a bilingual university in Switzerland, the University of Fribourg offers a wide range of courses of study in French, German or both. It is ranked among top 250 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-2016.
