On the afternoon of January 5, 2016, a delegation led by Prof. Hooshang Talebi, Chancellor of the University of Isfahan, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), accompanied by Dr. Hossein Ganjidoust, Science Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in China, and Mr. Afshin Rahmi, Consul of the Consulate-General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Guangzhou.
Prof. Yu Minbin, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building on South Campus. Prof. Pang Zhongying, Dean of School of International Relations, Prof. Chang Chenguang, Dean of School of International Studies, Prof. Wang Bin, Academic Executive Director of School of International Studies, and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, were also present at the meeting.

Prof. Yu Minbin extended a warm welcome to Prof. Hooshang Talebi on his first visit to SYSU, and introduced SYSU’s history and talent cultivation. He said that China and Iran has a long history of friendship, and the establishment of cooperative relations between the two universities will help promote the cultural communication between the two countries.
Prof. Hooshang Talebi said that he was glad to visit SYSU, and introduced the general situation and advantageous disciplines at the University of Isfahan. He hoped that this visit would deepen mutual understanding and promote academic and research cooperation and exchange between the two universities.
Afterwards, the delegates from the University of Isfahan had a meeting with representatives from SYSU’s School of International Relations and the School of International Studies. The two sides exchanged opinions on scholar exchange, joint academic seminar and research cooperation.
Built in1946, the University of Isfahan is one of the major universities in Iran with strengths in the fields of sciences, humanities, and engineering. It is located in Isfahan, the third largest city in Iran.
