A delegation from Kwansei Gakuin University visits SYSU

On the morning of December 18, 2015, a delegation led by Prof. ITO Shoichi, Vice-President of Kwansei Gakuin University, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Prof. Wei Minghai, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building on South Campus, accompanied by Ms. Wu Xiaoyan, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange.

Prof. Wei Minghai extended a warm welcome to Prof. ITO Shoichi and introduced SYSU’s history and campus construction. He expressed the hope that the two universities would deepen cooperation and strengthen scholar exchange on the basis of existing collaborations.

Prof. ITO Shoichi said that the two universities have maintained friendly relations for many years. He expressed the hope to increase the number of exchange students, expand the fields of cooperation between the two universities, and strengthen cooperation and exchange at the level of schools and departments.

Kwansei Gakuin is one of the most prestigious private schools in Japan, which was founded in Kobe in 1889. Kwansei Gakuin University is one of the 37 member universities in the “Top Global University” initiative launched by the Japanese government in 2014. SYSU and Kwansei Gakuin University signed an agreement on student exchange in 2000. Every year, SYSU sends one master’s student or PhD candidate to Kwansei Gakuin University for exchange study.
