Dr. Kathy E. Johnson, Interim Executive Vice Chancellor of IUPUI, visits SYSU

On December 9, 2015, Dr. Kathy E. Johnson, Interim Executive Vice Chancellor of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and Dr. Joe Xu, Director of Confucius Institute in Indianapolis, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Prof. Wei Minghai, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building on South Campus, accompanied by Prof. Gao Dingguo, Head of Department of Psychology and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange.

Prof. Wei Minghai extended a warm welcome to Dr. Kathy E. Johnson at her first visit to SYSU, and introduced SYSU’s general situation and recent development. SYSU has a long cooperative relationship with IUPUI. Since the establishment of the Cooperative Development Committee in 2013, the exchanges between the two universities have become increasingly frequent. The two sides will continue to deepen and expand cooperation and exchange.

Dr. Kathy E. Johnson said that she was glad to visit SYSU and looked forward to the third joint meeting of the Cooperative Development Committee to be held next year. The two sides also discussed possible collaborations in the field of psychology.

During the visit, the guests had a meeting with Prof. Wang Jinsong, Deputy Director of the Dean’s Office of Medical Education, and visited the three campuses in Guangzhou.
