SYSU 2015 Spring Work Conference Held

On March 6-7, the SYSU 2015 Spring Work Conference was held on Zhuhai Campus. The two-day meeting was aimed at discussing the formulation of the thirteenth five-year plan and make arrangements for the work of the University in 2015. Secretary Zheng Detao and President Luo Jun presided over the meeting respectively.

On the morning of March 6, President Luo Jun gave a report entitled “Building Consensus, Developing Actively, and Constructing World-class University”. Based on the situation of the University, he addressed the issue of planning from three aspects: connotations, functions and structures.

Centering on the theme of the thirteenth five-year plan, Vice President Wei Minghai, Vice President Li Shanmin and Assistant President Xia Lianghui respectively presented a report on talent team construction planning, research development planning, and financial planning. Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng gave a report on cadre team construction at both the university and the school level. Secretary Zheng Detao made a summary of the meeting on March 7.

In group discussions, the participants discussed questions such as: What is the gap between SYSU and other top universities in the nation? How to reduce the gap through planning well? What concrete measures should we take to reduce the gap?

The university leaders, heads of functional departments, schools, affiliated hospitals, logistics group, industry group and relevant research units, CAS and CAE academicians, and recipients of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholarsattended the conference.
