Prof. Keith Gull, Principal of St Edmund Hall at University of Oxford, visited SYSU

In the morning on September 23, 2014, a six-person delegation led by Professor Keith Gull, Fellow of Royal Society and Principal of St Edmund Hall at University of Oxford, visited SYSU. Members of the delegation also included Dr. Dianne Gull, Prof. Keith Gull’s wife, and Dr. Frank Hwang, Director of Oxford Chinese Economy Programme (OXCEP) at St Edmund Hall. Prof. Yan Guangmei, Vice President of SYSU, met with the delegation, accompanied by Prof. Xu Xinzhong, Dean of Lingnan College; Prof. Zou Jianhua, Deputy Dean of Lingnan College; and Ms. Gu Wenli, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange.

Vice President Yan Guangmei welcomed Prof. Keith Gull on his second visit to SYSU and introduced SYSU’s development in the past year. He hoped that the two sides would expand fields of cooperation.

Prof. Keith Gull introduced the collegiate structure of University of Oxford and the academic exchanges of St Edmund Hall. He hoped the two sides would conduct student and faculty exchanges, and he welcomed SYSU students to attend the summer schools at University of Oxford.

After the meeting, the delegation held a talk with representatives from Lingnan College. In the afternoon, Prof. Keith Gull visited the School of Life Sciences and gave a lecture on “Protozoal Parasites: Structure and Function of the Host-Parasite Interaction”.
