On September 4, the signing ceremony of donation from Macao Fok Ying Tung Foundation to support the educational development of Sun Yat-sen University was held in Nansha. Mr. Ian Fok Chun-wan, CEO of Fok Ying Tung Group and Chairman of Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation, and Prof. Xu Ningsheng, President of Sun Yat-sen University, signed the agreement on behalf of the two sides. According to the agreement, Macao Fok Ying Tung Foundation will donate 30 million RMB to support SYSU’s teaching, research and cultural events, with the aim to help SYSU make greater contributions to promoting cultural exchange and social progress in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

Huang Daren, former President of SYSU; Li Ping, Deputy Secretary of SYSU Party Committee; Chen Shaobin, Assistant President of SYSU; Li Xuerou, Professor of Sun Yat-sen Business School; and Li Hanrong, Director of Education Development & Alumni Affairs Office of SYSU attended the signing ceremony. The attendees also included several SYSU alumni such as Li Zigen, Deputy Director of Work Committee, Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone; Huo Yang, Deputy Mayor of Nansha District; Yang Jie, General Manager of Nansha Grand Hotel; and Wang Dazai, Chairman of Nansha Urban Construction & Investment Co., Ltd.

Dr. Henry Fok Ying Tung and his family have provided long-time support to SYSU’s educational development, such as Henry Fok Stadium and Hotel Management Training Center of Sun Yat-sen Business School. This year marks the 90th anniversary of SYSU, and Fok Ying Tung Foundation once again makes generous donation to SYSU.
