WISDOM DIALOGUES丨Global Forum of University Presidents Held at Sun Yat-sen University

On Sun Yat-sen University's anniversary, 120 university presidents and scholars gathered for discussions and exchanges. Sun Yat-sen University President Gao Song stated that whether it's dealing with technological changes, promoting sustainable development, or driving openness and integration, one keyword that runs through all these is "the future." Leading the future is the mission of universities, and it requires our joint efforts.

Science knows no borders. Jean-Marie Lehn, the 1987 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, participated in the forum and shared his views. He believes that most fruitful collaborations in research and discovery come from personal relationships. Scientists should enhance communication and connections while maintaining an open mind towards the unknown.

Faced with the explosion of AI and its impact on education, experts and scholars have put forward their own opinions. Hélène Boulanger, President of the University of Lorraine emphasizes that we must pay attention to the changes AI brings to the world, especially how it shapes our creativity and critical thinking. Jon Frampton, Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor of University of Birmingham also points out that AI has become a part of our daily lives, so we must be cautious in its use to ensure that its applications are ethical and compliant with regulations.

Global challenges require all countries to work together. Lynn Pasquerella, President of the American Association of Colleges & Universities, stated that China is the biggest partner for U.S. researchers. China plays a significant role in promoting global exchange and collaboration.
