The journal Organ Transplantation, published by The Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, is included in the Western Pacific Region Index Medicus (WPRIM) after it has been reviewed by the World Health Organization (WHO) WPRIM Chinese Biomedical Journal Selection Committee and approved by the WHO Regional Journal Selection Committee. Currently, a total of 292 medical journals from China have been covered by WPRIM (5 newly selected journals in 2017 included). This demonstrates that the quality of Organ Transplantation has been further recognized in the journal circle, and its academic influence will be further enhanced in the world.
WPRIM is an important component of the WHO Global Health Library (GHL) project, which aims to establish an online health virtual library to provide health related information to the whole world, including the establishment of a global index Medicus (GIM) to collect medical bibliographies and abstracts globally. WHO divides its Member States into six regions including Africa, America, Middle East, Europe, Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific; separate medical medicus is established in each area to constitute GIM, through which investigators can search and download desired information in combination of search engines. WPRIM focuses on collecting the bibliographical information of medical and health journals as well as grey literature (including abstracts) published in Member States of the WHO Western Pacific Region.
