The
Chinese Journal of Cancer or the CJC as it is commonly referred to, is an Open Access, scientific, peer-reviewed, monthly journal published by Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC). The publication covers a diverse range of research from basic to clinical to translational research. The journal also includes other reports and reviews within the field of oncology.
Founded in 1982, the journal has published thousands of articles. In 2014, the CJC became Science Citation Indexed (SCI). SCI as well as JCR (Journal Citation Report) are readily available online measurement tools produced by Thomson Reuters that rank articles in accordance to their citation influence and popularity.
This month, Reuters released its official annual citation report 2015. The CJC was awarded an impact factor of 2.814, a steady rise in last year’s figure of 2.155. In addition, in mainland China this year, the CJC was ranked first in the field of oncology and 112 internationally up from last year’s 144 in the category of Oncology in JCR.
CJC’s impact factor trend (2010-2013 estimates)
Whilst they might seem relatively moderate increases, they are testament to the CJC team’s hard work as well as evidence of their growing international success and one to look out for in the near future, especially given the CJC’s newly formed partnership. As of last year, the CJC teamed up with one of the world’s biggest and leading publishing groups--Springer Nature. The cooperation is part of a shift towards an international, open access, peer-reviewed system published on their online platform to strengthen the validity of the CJC’s articles.
