On the afternoon of May 5th, 2016, a four-member delegation led by Prof. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, visited Zhongshan School of Medicine (ZSSOM) of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Ms. Boosara Kanchanalai, deputy Consul-General from the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Guangzhou and her colleague consul Ms. Maleewan Chinaprayoon accompanied them in the visit.
Prof. Wu Zhongdao, Secretary of the ZSSOM Party Committee, held a cordial meeting with the guests in the Science Building on Guangzhou North Campus of SYSU. Prof. Wu Minhao, Prof. Li Bo, and the Thai students in the MBBS program were also present at the meeting.

Prof. Wu Zhongdao extended a warm welcome to the guests, and gave an introduction on ZSSOM’s history, disciplinary development and school construction. The Delegation were very impressed with our achievements in scientific research and talent cultivation and invited the ZSSOM team to visit Mahidol University. Both parties had an in-depth discussion on student exchanges and research cooperation, further negotiating the specific items in MOU (MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING) in details. Prof. Wu hoped that this visit could bring ZSSOM and Thailand closer and establish friendly cooperative relationships between the two schools.
At the end of the meeting, the guests from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University and Royal Thai Consulate-General, Guangzhou presented a gift to ZSSOM.
The Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University is the oldest and largest medical school and the oldest university faculty in Thailand. Founded in 1889, the faculty is now part of Mahidol University and is run in co-operation with Siriraj Hospital, the first public hospital in Thailand. The faculty is well-established in medical sciences, public health and natural sciences.
