The 100 Years of Chromoblastomycosis International Symposium was successfully held on October 8-10, 2014 at Sao Luis, Maranhao, Brazil. Chromoblastomycosis is one of the most prevalent and highly mutilating (sub)cutaneous diseases in tropical and subtropical climate zones, especially in China and Brazil, which is very difficult to cure.

Professor Xi Liyan (Department of Dermatology, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University) and Associate Professor Feng Peiying (Department of Dermatology, The Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University) were the only two invited Chinese speakers. Prof. Xi Liyan gave two presentations entitled "Photodynamic Therapy in Chromoblastomycosis" and “Chromoblastomycosis in Mainland China” respectively; Associate Professor Feng Peiying gave a presentation on the topic of “Identification of Common Clinical Black Fungi Using Rolling Circle Amplification”.
