The Academic Committee Meeting of Collaborative Innovation Center for Cancer Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University held successfully

The Academic Committee Meeting of Collaborative Innovation Center for Cancer Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University was held on the morning of March 2, 2014. Director of the Academic Committee Academician Wang Xiaodong, members of the Academic Committee including Academician Zeng Yixin, Academician Yao Kaitai, Academician Kong Xiangfu, Academician Liu Yunyi, Academician Zhou Honghao, Academician Wei Yuquan, Academician Yu Jinming, Professor Chen Dezhang and Professor Ma Jun, leaders of the collaborative units and Principal Investigators of the Center attended the meeting.

SYSU Vice President Li Mengfeng introduced the implementation of the “2011 Plan”, expressed SYSU’s support for the Center, and presented certificates of appointment to members of the Academic Committee.

At the meeting, Director of the Office of Medical Science Liang Dan read the announcement on the establishment of the Academic Committee. Director of Collaborative Innovation Center for Cancer Medicine Professor Ma Jun delivered a report on the cultivation and construction of the Center. Professor Mai Haiqing, Professor Zhang Li, Professor Chen Minshan and Professor Zhang Lingqiang made a representative academic report respectively.

Members of the Academic Committee agreed that the construction and cultivation work of the Center is solid and effective. They highly praised the “post-doctoral mechanism reform”, the resource sharing mode among collaborative units such as “clinical coordination group”, and the “basic-clinical” research mode of translational medicine as represented by the substantive collaboration with the National Institute of Biological Sciences, Beijing. They also made valuable suggestions on the cultivation of interdisciplinary talents in cancer medicine, the performance evaluation mechanism of the Center and the establishment of phase I clinical test association.

The Academic Committee Meeting has clarified the guidelines for the Center, enriched the contents of cooperation among the collaborative units, and laid a solid foundation for the implementation of the construction tasks.
