University of Munich Vice President Professor Hans van Ess Visits Sun Yat-sen University

On the afternoon of June 26, 2018, University of Munich Vice President Prof. Hans van Ess visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU).

SYSU Vice President Xiao Haipeng led a reception and cooperation meeting for Vice President Hans van Ess at Zhongshan Building on SYSU’s Guangzhou South Campus. Vice President Xiao welcomed Professor van Ess on his visit to SYSU and briefed him on recent initiatives at SYSU, including the campus construction, disciplines development, and major research platforms. He expressed his hope that the two universities will be able to explore deepened collaboration in medical and health sciences fields.

Prof. Hans van Ess mentioned he was impressed by SYSU’s many strengths across a variety of disciplines and looked forward to exploring new areas for cooperation in areas such as environmental science, chemistry, area studies, medicine and others, including symposiums, joint research, academic exchange, and other cooperation models.

SYSU representatives at the meeting also included Prof. He Shihai, Deputy Head of the SYSU Department of Chinese and Mr. Zhang Zhe, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation & Exchange.
