South China Research-development and Technical Service Center of Chinese Medicine Innovation in Passing Acceptance

On the day of Dec.10th, the Science and Technology Department of Guangdong province had organized the acceptance meeting for the "South China Research-Development and Technical Service Center of Chinese Medicine Innovation ", co-hosted by SYSU and the Guangzhou Institute of Pharmaceutical Industry, which was the breakthroughs of Guangdong-Hong Kong joint commitment. Expert group for the acceptance attended the progress report and the summary report of technology, and carried out on-site inspection and inquiries. The experts agreed unanimously that the co-host units have successfully accomplished the research mission under the contract of the project, achieved good social and economic benefits, and boosted the development of Chinese medicine industry of Guangdong province. At last they passed the acceptance of the project.

As platform for research and development of Chinese medicine innovation, the research-development and technical center of Chinese medicine innovation was launched in 2006 by Prof Su Weiwei from the school of Life Sciences of SYSU. The platform is equipped with complete new drug R&D laboratory facilities, establishing a mature all-round technical service system, which is capable of carrying out all preclinical drug studies, and had provided key technical service for development of 131 new drugs. By December of 2009, the platform had accessed to 6 clinical drug approval documents, 2 production approval documents and a new drug certificate. Meanwhile, 1 more document is in pending and 3 clinical documents are expected to be declared. 22 national invention patents were applied from 2006 to 2009, and 14invention patents were granted. One of the five international invention patent applications had been granted certificate. 48 academic research papers had been published, including papers documented in the SCI. In addition, 13 academic lectures had been held and more than a thousand persons had participated in the training.
