Charles Bantz, President of Indiana University-Perdue University-Indianapolis, together with his wife Sandra Petronio, as well as Xu Zaocheng, President of Confucius Institute of IUPUI, visited Sun Yat-sen University on December 8-10. Huang Daren, President of SYSU, and vice President Li Mengfan greeted the guests. President Huang Daren signed a Memorandum of Strategic Alliance between the two universities with President Charles Bantz, setting up a more efficient platform for further cooperation between the two sides. During his stay, Charles Bantz and Sandra Petronio also gave lectures on “Understanding Universities through Cultural Communication between Institutions” and “Management of Patients’ Medical Records” respectively to the teachers and students of SYSU.

IUPUI, whose medicine, business and engineering enjoy great reputation in the field of education, is one of the comprehensive universities in America. SYSU has established cooperation and communication relationship with IUPUI since 2005. In 2007, the two universities had cooperatively set up the Confucius Institute, through which bilateral communication has become deeper and more frequent.
